Much Needed Haircut

LeLe went to school today and afterwards, we went to get her a much needed haircut. She has some crazy hair. She has been twirling her hair since Gibson has come home. Evidently, it is similar to sucking a thumb and is thought to be a soothing technique. She normally only twirls it when she is tired but unfortunately, angel hair is tangles easily. So, we have had to cut out several tangles in her hair..which has left us with some crazy hair.

So, today, we got it shaped up. She had a wonderful time watching the lady cut her hair and the whole time kept saying "are we done?". She sat very still during the whole process. Once it was done, I realized that I had left my wallet in the diaper bag...which was at mother and dad's house. They did let me charge it over the phone though.

We went to show Bobo and Pappy our new haircut and then came home to finish packing and getting ready for the beach. It is amazing how much stuff is required for 2 little ones.

Sweet Little Fella

My sweet little fella is so glad to be home. We put him in his swing as soon as we got home and he fell fast asleep. Today, we let him try out the bouncer seat. While he hasn't shown much interest in it prior to our trip, today, he fell in love. He has figured out how to hit all of the stuff so that the music plays and the frog moves. He is one smart little cookie. He looked like he was running a marathon too with how fast he was kicking his legs. He still has some cradle cap...but, we have continued with all of our therapy. :)

I went and got my hair done today. Lauren and Matt watched the kids while I was gone. Gibson has become one spoiled little boy. LeLe is exhausted from the trip so we are trying to get her back on her regular schedule.

I am busy washing clothes and getting ready for us to leave again on Saturday for the beach.

Trip Home

We left around noon to head back to Birmingham. What was suppose to be a 4-5 hour trip turned into to more like a 5-6 hour trip. Let me start out by saying... I really don't like stopping at exits that only have 1 or 2 gas stations. So, here we are in po-dunkville Alabama when my fuel light comes on. Lauren suggests that I go ahead and get off but since there was only 1 gas station, I decided that I would go ahead and go to the next one. Little did I know that a car had caught on fire and we wouldn't make it to the next gas station for 1 hour later. Fortunately, the weather was absolutely beautiful in po-dunkville and we were able to cut off the car and save fuel.

Let me also say, we shouldn't go on a long trip without a cooler in the car. I had one very thirsty little girl...especially after she ate the whole bag of cheese curls.

We finally got moving and stopped at the next exit (which too only had 1 gas station). We then went on to grab some lunch (at 3:00) at McDonalds and head on to Birmingham.

LeLe had given her daddy a call earlier in the morning and she told him that she was "worry for him". So, he decided to cut his meeting short and head back home to see his little angel.

Gibson did much better last night sleeping. He stayed the entire time in his nap nanny at night in my room. Let me just say, I don't know how folks co-sleep as I didn't sleep at all with a little man snoring next to me. He did great on the trip back home.

More Shopping

Today, we went shopping again. This time, my wallet just kept jumping out of my purse.

We ate at a wonderful italian restaurant and we did some shopping while Lauren got her hair cut. While we were in the store, we hear LeLe say "don't worry about me"...."don't worry about me". We then look over and find her digging around in Aunt Tammie's purse looking for lipstick.

Gibson had a melt down today and we had to head back to the house. He doesn't like the sun, wind or being out of his element. I had packed his take a long swing but it only swings front to back. He prefers his swing here at home which swings side to side. He is so much out of his element that he has been taking a pacifier the past couple of days. Tammie and Lauren suggested us trying a different kind and he has used them...so today, we went to buy a couple more.

We made it to the park after LeLe took a nap. She had to straighten out a couple of the other kids when they wouldn't let her slide. She ended up having a great time though...and don't let the dress fool you...she knows how to climb, slide and swing in it.

Gibson got another scrub down...this time with some organic pear shampoo and lavender oil. So, by the description, I am sure you figured out, we are still working to correct it. :)

Tammie and Uncle Allen kept the kids tonight while Lauren and I went to the Hard Rock Casino. I love going to the casino but don't like losing money. Tonight, I came out negative $12.00. I guess that isn't bad considering we stayed several hours.

I am sad that we are leaving tomorrow. We have had a fantastic time!

Bath time

We woke up to the smell of muffins. Unfortately, the water in the pool was too cold for us to swim but we had a great time bumming around in Mississippi today. We went to Target and several other little stores around town. I ended up buying LeLe some silver and hot pink sandals at a cute little shoe store. We had plans to go to the park but didn't ever make it.

We bought all kinds of stuff to help get rid of Gibson's cradle cap. Let's just say, I am not sure if witch hazel, mineral oil or lavender oil will work but it won't be for lack of effort.

Aunt Tammie gave Gibson a big scrub down tonight. We shall see if the stuff works.

Trip to Mississippi

Matt had to go to Mississippi for a regional meeting. So, I decided to take the kids to visit my aunt and uncle in Ocean Springs. Luckily, my cousin Lauren, decided to go with me. The kids did a great job on the trip. LeLe didn't ever quit talking though. It was rather humorous as she just likes hearing herself talk while trying to keep herself from falling asleep.

On the way, I yawned...and in normal LeLe fashion, she asks "Mommy are you tired?". I respond, "Yes, LeLe, are you tired?"....her response, "No, I very tired".

We got to Mississippi in time for us to have dinner with Aunt Tammie and Uncle Allen's friends. We had a great time socializing. After everyone left, Gibson fell asleep with Uncle Allen.

Barney!!

Laura came up early for us to go to Barney at the McWane center. We had debated on not going considering the weather is suppose to get really bad. However, we might as well let the kids run wild there instead of inside our own house. So, we decided to go ahead and weather the storm. Gibson woke up with congestion so Matt stayed with him while we went to see Barney.

Barney was to perform starting at 10:30. We got there early and sat on the front row for 45 minutes while waiting on the performance. Luckily, we had some experience from the seeing Dora last month and therefore knew all of the ropes. The girls were in amazement as Barney sang a ton of the same songs that they knew. LeLe and Saxon had a FANTASTIC time singing and dancing with Barney. After the show, we went to get our picture made with him. LeLe was a little overwhelmed and therefore I got to be in the picture with her. Let's just say, I won't be posting that picture for the world to see!

We all grabbed lunch at the McWane center and then we headed home before the weather got too bad. Gibson wasn't a happy fellow when we got home. Evidently, he feels pretty bad...Poor little fellow.

Play Day

LeLe played outside by herself for a couple of hours today. I believe that she had more fun playing in the mud and chasing Sadie than she has had in a long time. She entertained herself by digging in the dirt. I am sure that you can't tell from the picture. She never got out of her pajamas today...so, it was a great day to be 2 at the Holland house.

Matt has started building her an "igloo" in our bed. They started this ritual a few days ago but she has made it to be a nightly deal. She normally watches television for a little while to calm down prior to going to bed.

Gibson fell asleep on Matt tonight and...Matt fell asleep too. Sweet boys!

"Just a swingin"

Gibson LOVES his swing. He loves it so much, I believe he would sit in there all day if we would let him. However, he does stop to eat and get his diaper changed. I am so glad considering I am still under the weather. Gibson actually woke up with a stuffy nose but I hope that it will pass for him. We have been so fortunate with their health.

Matt came home early today to help out with the kids. He and LeLe played her puzzle while I got a hot shower and folded some clothes. We are suppose to leave on Sunday to go spend some time with my aunt and uncle....that is ...if we start feeling better.

Another Nephew!

We found out early this morning that we are going to have a new nephew today. Kate (Matt's sister) had Harrison Daniel "Hank" around 6:00 pm. He weighed 8 lbs and 8 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Well, wouldn't you know it...I am sick. I called the doctor today and they called me in some medicine. Let's just say, I think that LeLe felt worse than I gave her credit. I am hopeful that the medicine will start working soon. I woke up last night with a fever and hope that I feel better soon.

On a much lighter note, I bought LeLe some bathtub fizz that changes the color of the water in the tub. She loved it. I had to restrain her from putting 10 of them in the water. Gibson loves his baths too. He is doing well these days and still enjoys being swaddled. He is starting to smile a ton and loves to grunt. We actually call him our little grunter.

LeLe still refers to Gibson as "broter".

Booty Shot!

How could you resist not taking a picture of this cute booty!

Gibson still gets a bath all most every night. He is still having some issues with cradle cap...that I cannot seem to get rid of!!!

Visit from the Ice Cream Truck

Today, LeLe played outside. She came inside crying...evidently, she had tried to do a flip on her swingset and didn't quite make it all of the way around. She landed on the wood underneath directly on the bridge of her nose. You can see that it is bruised in the picture. Poor little girl.

Gibson has been his normal angel self today.

When LeLe woke up from her nap, she was pleasantly surprised by the ice cream truck. Her daddy waved the truck down of course and treated her to a push up pop. She enjoyed it very much!

Dinner with the Robinsons

Today, LaLa (my cousin Lauren) came over and watched the kids while I ran to Costco and Matt ran to help a neighbor. While I was gone, Matt called and said that the Robinson's were coming over for dinner. We cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and really enjoyed the fellowship. McClain, their oldest daughter, had a wonderful time holding Baby Gibson. He was so well behaved...I think it is because he thinks that the Robinson girls are so cute!

It was great to spend time with them. LeLe had a great time playing with them too!

I did something today that I haven't done in a VERY long time....I monogrammed my finger. While it sounds terrible, it really is a blessing that my machine now has an emergency stop. So, after it went in several times, the machine cut off. This time, I didn't jerk my hand back so the damage was minimal. Hopefully, I have learned not to try to grab the thread when the machine is stitching 1000 stiches per minute.

LeLe seems to be feeling much better today!

Gibson is such a happy baby. He LOVES his swing and enjoys smiling and talking...okay, cooing.

Sweet Boy

Bobo came over to help me today. I am always so thankful for my helpful mother. She brought over surprises for LeLe and took care of her while I tended to baby Gibson. I don't know what I would do without her.

LeLe seems to sounds a little better but we continue to dose her with medicine as directed by Dr. Huie. She was so excited to see Bobo that for a little while, she forgot that she was sick.

Doctor Visit

Well, LeLe woke me up in the middle of the night. When I got up there, she was burning up! I went to get the thermometer and she had a 101.6 fever. Which...for her is very high. We have been so fortunate that this has only been her 2nd or 3rd fever ever!

We have a 9:15 doctor's appointment for Baby Gibson's 2 month check-up. I talked Matt into going with me since Gibson will be having shots and LeLe is feeling so yucky. When we got there, they agreed to see both of them. I was so happy.

LeLe weighed 29.8 pounds and was very perky in front of everyone. However, if you know LeLe, you know she doesn't sit very still anywhere and I actually got a couple shots of her sitting down! Dr. Huie took a strep test (that came back negative) and said that her throat was very red but it must just be a virus. Oh, did I mention, no fever of course when we got there. I guess there is something to be said for drugging your child with Motrin and Tylenol.

Gibson was so happy to be at the doctor this morning. Again, we took bets on how much our big man weighed. Matt guessed 14 lbs; Pappy 14 lbs; Me 13 lbs 8 oz; He weighed in at a whopping 13 lbs 13 oz and was 24 inches long. Both of which are in the 90th percentile for a 2 month old. Dr. Huie said our little fellow was perfect and proceeded to give him his vaccinations. He was impressed that our little fellow is sleeping so well. I am sure that I have jinxed us now though.

After leaving the doctor, I met my friend Kristi for her birthday. It was great catching up with the folks at work. LeLe took her a Little Debbie cupcake and was so excited to sing to her even though she didn't feel well.

When we left, we stopped by Target to get some Infant Tylenol and the medicine that Doctor Huie recommended for LeLe. We didn't even get in the door before LeLe and Gibson started crying. Okay folks, I am not just talking a little whimper. I am talking a HUGE cry. I quickly walked to the medicine section where I opened the drugs and gave them to both children. I then quickly ran to the baby section to get him a pacifier. The whole time, they are screaming. So much so, that one lady offered to hold Gibson's bottle while I comforted LeLe. Folks were coming out of the aisles to see what the commotion was....if you know me, you know that I was MORTIFIED! We quickly ran out of the store but not without help. One of the Target workers even assisted me through checkout. Let's just say...God did good giving me healthy children because I can barely handle this one day of LeLe being sick! After all of that, we all came home and took naps.

Tax Day...and the Zoo!

Today, Gibson, LeLe and I headed to the zoo to meet our friends. This was my first official outing with both of them (other than to school). Let's just say, I was glad that Leslie helped me so very much. I have got to learn how to handle both of them but for now, I am still experimenting on which one goes in the car first, etc.

I put both of them in the double stroller and was amazed at how Gibson seemed to be taking it all in. He didn't make a peep the entire time that we were at the zoo. There were so many folks there though we didn't stay for more than an hour. We ate lunch at La Paz and it was very yummy!

LeLe was so excited to see McClain and Leslie and I had a wonderful time talking to one another. LeLe has been sneezing a lot today but I think it may just be allergies since we have been spending SO much time outside.

Madagascar

LeLe has started to branch out to new movies. Her new favorite movie is Madagascar. We have grown to love the movie too. Luckily, we have the original and the sequel so we don't really get tired of the same movie playing every day.
We try to limit her television time to less than an hour or so. Tonight, she got it "Brothers" car seat. I thought it was rather amazing how much she has grown over the past 2 years. She looks SO big compared to Gibson but I try to keep it in perspective that she is just a baby herself.

Sweet Little Fellow

My sweet little fellow loves his swing. Actually, I think he likes his swing as much as being held if not more. At night, we put him in it to make him go to sleep. Today, he was burning up so we took his clothes off of him just to let him chill. Check out how adorable this little fellow is!!

We are taking bets on how much he will weigh at his 2 month check-up on Friday. The guesses are as follows: Pappy - 13 lbs 4 oz; Matt - 14 bs; Me - 13 lbs 8 oz; Lauren 14 lbs. We shall see!!

He is such a sweet baby. He has successfully slept over 8 hours for a couple nights in a row. He was swaddled of course! His hair is starting to really come in. I cannot tell if it is going to be curly or not because after we wash it...it has ringlets. He still has a very dry scalp and now has some dry patches on his arms. He has kept his darker skin (well, darker than "Snowflake LeLe").
