Dining with the Welborns

The Welborn family came over to visit us. It was very cloudy today so we stayed at the pool instead of heading down to the beach. We met the Welborn family for dinner at Sea N Suds. When we got done with dinner, the kids went crabbing. They were unable to find any critters though. Laura Elizabeth is becoming more mobile and loved snacking on the saltine crackers during dinner.

Fun at the Beach

Matt and I went down early on Wednesday to the beach. We were able to get out on the beach Wednesday night and let LeLe play in the sand or should I say...eat the sand. The Skinner family got there late on Wednesday night after we all were in bed.

Beach Bound

We are headed down to Gulf Shores. We are so excited. I am packing the house to go. It is a good thing I have a big SUV! Stay tuned for some beach pics! We will be back on Tuesday.

7 Months Old

Well, it is here again...another month as passed and our little angel is continuing to grow. I cannot believe that our little angel is now 7 months old! How time flies!

Tub Time

Anne Reaves, Bobo and Pappy came over to eat dinner with us. Laura Elizabeth absolutely adores Anne Reaves. She gets so tickled at her. Anne Reaves is a great big cousin. She played with LeLe as we got dinner ready.

After dinner, Matt and I decided it was time for Laura Elizabeth to get a "real" bath. Let's just say...it was a disaster! She wanted to crawl in the tub. Finally, Matt and I just sat back and watched. She got on all fours and proceeded to do her rocking thing. She even dunked her face a couple of times but then came up laughing. I believe that we may have our hands full. I am going to try to find some kind of bath seat to help considering 4 hands is not enough to control our little monkey.

Eating Stars

I bought Laura Elizabeth some baby food stars to try. She had no problems putting them in her mouth. This was no surprise considering EVERYTHING goes in that mouth. She really enjoys her toes in her mouth. Matt and I got tickled at all of the faces that she was making. I can't tell if it is the texture that she can't figure out or if it is the taste of the banana puffs.

She is becoming such an independent smart little girl. She loves to play in her walker and she can pick out a tag on any toy.

Matt, LeLe and I headed to Tuscaloosa to spend the day with the Skinner family. We had a wonderful time as always taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the Skinner resort.

Wonderful Friday!

Laura Elizabeth and I had a great time on Friday. We ran several errands and spent some time together. She had a great time playing in the grass. For some reason, she thought that the grass was so funny.

On Friday night, Laura and I took Bobo and Pappy to see Jerry Seinfield for Dad's birthday. We had a fantastic time. It was great watching mother and dad have so much fun after the stressful past few months. Dad seems to be doing much better. Thank goodness! I am sure it is because all of the prayers that we are receiving.

Hi Da Da

Each time we see Matt in a new room, I have been saying "Hi DaDa". Well, yesterday and then again today, we saw him first thing in the morning and she said "Hi Da"! She now just walks around and says "dadadadada" all of the time. I am not quite sure that she knows exactly what she is saying but she definitely likes our reaction. I told her that she was very smart for saying "dada" first because she would definitely be able to get more out of him than she ever would me.

LeLe is becoming a great eater. Today, she ate almost a whole jar of baby food. She loves the peach and banana premixed oatmeal. I can't say that I blame her. I think she likes them much better than her green beans and peas! I promise that my child has clothes! We take them off to feed her especially when we are going to have a bath. She seems to love it! She also wanted to show of her pearls!

Well, Pappy made a turn for the worse and had to be admitted into UAB today. Please keep him and our family in your prayers.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Matt, LeLe and I attended our nephew Alex's 6th birthday party. It was at the Vestavia YMCA. Unfortunately, it was scheduled to be a pool party but due to thunderstorms, they moved it inside. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the bounce room and enjoyed a water gun fight! Alex was adorable as always. Laura Elizabeth had a wonderful time watching the other kids.

Pray Again for Pappy

Well, we learned today that dad's back is broken in 2 different places. Oh me! Please keep him in your prayers as we tackle this new hurdle. On a lighter note, the Skinner girls came down and spent the day with LeLe and me. We had a wonderful time burning up the roads! Laura Elizabeth loves her toy that the Welborn family gave her. She likes rubbing it when it is time to go to bed.

On all Fours!

Laura Elizabeth has amazed us with her coordination. We have an "illegal" walker that she can manuever throughout the hallway, kitchen, den and office. In the past few days, she has learned to get up on all fours. She will rock back and forth but hasn't learned to put it all together. She loves being on the quilt but sometimes decides she would rather spend time under the couch or table. She definitely can get around even though she can't crawl. She is such a happy and pleasant little baby! We are so fortunate.

Encouraging News!

Thank you everyone for your continuous prayers. Dad got great news! His cancer appears to be gone and he doesn't have to come back for 3 months! God is Good!

It has been a wild past week or 2. Dad has been very weak and severely anemic. The anemia is a side effect of the radiation (we have since learned). So, last Tuesday, he was bringing in hamburgers, lost his footing, and fell backwards off of the back porch. Before dad got sick, he and the neighbor started building a deck off of the porch at his house. They had removed the railing. Since there was no railing, dad went completely backwards approximately 6 feet onto the ground. Since then, he is been in severe pain. We are still waiting to hear back from the x-rays that he had done this morning. Please pray that nothing major is wrong with his back.

Praying for Pappy

Please keep Pappy in your prayers. He is not doing so well. He goes back to the liver doctor tomorrow and we pray that the cancer is gone. I will not be surprised if they keep him tomorrow due to his current state. Please keep our family in your prayers.

We went to the Skinner resort to celebrate the 4th of July. We had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool. Laura Elizabeth enjoyed playing with the girls on her first 4th of July. We also enjoyed spending time with the Crooks family.

Ready to Ride!

Laura Elizabeth's new car seat has arrived! I have read and read and read about car seats and I pray that we never really need it for a crash. I could not decide between 2 different ones so I went with the fabric that I liked. I don't think that fabric has a rating in Consumer Reports but it does in the Holland house. Laura Elizabeth fits perfectly in her new car seat. Of course, it is still in the dining room. Matt and I plan to change it out before our beach trip at the end of the month. We are pretty spoiled with her infant carrier since she sits in it so well.
