Gibson finally went to bed last night around midnight. He got up again at 2:00 and then at 6:00. My dear friend, Mark Wilkins, came today to take his pictures. LeLe was so excited that she ended up getting her picture made too.

My friends from work brought us food today. It was fantastic to see some familiar faces and have wonderful food too!

Mr. Sun...sun..

Mother took LeLe to school again today. She was late again but I am enjoying sleeping in. LeLe is too! The weather was so beautiful that LeLe played outside by herself for the longest time. She then came in and said "Mommy, can you please come swing with me." Of course, I couldn't stand it and ended up putting Gibson in his bouncy seat while we went to play. Matt got home early and I was able to take a nap. We are still enjoying the Olympics and are really going to miss them when they are gone. What else is there to watch in the middle of the night?

Action Packed Day...

Well, today our little Gibson is a week old! I cannot believe how quickly time flies. We are starting to get into the swing of things (with everything but sleep). Gibson went for his one week check-up today with Dr. Huie. Since I haven't been released to drive, Bobo came over to drive me. Let's just say that she got nervous when starting to drive my car so I ended up driving and her riding with me. Our philosophy was that if we were in a wreck, the seat belt would mess me up regardless of whether I was driving or not...

So, off to Mayfair Medical. Thank heavens that Bobo helped me get these babies ready. I just haven't gotten use to getting 3 people ready in the mornings. She tackled LeLe and I dressed little man. He weighed 8 pounds and 2.2 ounces. According to Dr. Huie, his weight loss/gain was by the booi. He examined him and said that he was in perfect condition. He commented on his hair swirl calling it perfect. I asked about his dark hair...wondering whether or not it will remain dark. According to Huie, birth hair is no indication of what color it will be. We were done by 10:00. Mother and LeLe never got out of the car.

On our way home, we had a long conversation with LeLe and the 2 dinosaurs (Baby Bop and BJ). Man, what things that we do for our children.


We got home around 10:30. Gibson stayed in his car seat and LeLe sat beside him for the longest time kissing "his wittle head". PawPaw (Matt's grandfather) showed up around 11:30. Today was his birthday so it was a great surprise.

Matt and I left around 12:30 to go grab some lunch at the Pita Stop. He then took me to my appointment at St. Vincents. They removed my staples and put on steri strips. I was glad to have the staples off even though these things still pull.

Gibson finally got me unprepared! He sprayed me twice today while changing his diaper. He even sprayed the curtains!! He is starting to "wake" up a little more during the day.

You decide....

You decide...do you think that LeLe and Gibson look similar? I couldn't find one of her pleasantly sleeping but you can still get the idea.

Bobo came over today and took LeLe to school for me. Yesterday at school, LeLe told her teachers that her brother was just "wittle". She didn't have much more to say about him. She did tell them that BJ (the boy dinosaur on Barney) was a good boy, and that Baby Bop (the girl dinosaur) was a good girl. They told her well, LeLe, you are a good girl....and she responded, "Yes, I sure am!". Today though, she told them that Gibson has green hair. You never know what this kids is going to say but it is always interesting.

Mother came over today to let me get some rest. While I wasn't able to take a nap (mother isn't the most quiet person), I was able to get a lot of stuff done. I am doing by best to keep a daily journal. We shall see how long that lasts. She entertained LeLe and helped wear her down before her nap. Pappy also came by to visit.

Gibson did okay sleeping. He was up at 10:00, 12:30, 3:30 and then 8:15. He smiles a lot and definitely knows Matt, LeLe and my voices.

Gibson did much better sleeping. We were only up from 1 to 5! Kim Meadows (my wonderful neighbor) came over to pick LeLe up for school. LeLe is having some separation anxiety but was fine by the time that they got to school. Her teacher, JoAnn brought her home for me and helped me get her in the bed for her nap. I am just so fortunate to have such wonderful friends. Let me also say...I am not a good patient!!

Buddy and Pops called around 12:30 and decided to come by. Pops was able to meet Gibson and they things that he looks like LeLe. Gibson gets the hiccups a lot and loves being held. He does that crazy newborn stuff like rolling his eyes and jerking...so sweet!

LeLe is so in love. Tonight, she insisted on feeding him a bottle. Did I mention that anytime he makes the slightest noise...she is on it! She brings him whatever she thinks he needs. She has even volunteered to change his diaper.

We are loving some Olympics!!

Well, I have forgotten what it was like to have a newborn...they don't sleep!! Gibson was up the majority of the night. As most of you know, I am a stickler for the babies being in their bed. So, I spent most of the night in his room. He is feeding well...just not sleeping. Unfortately, he woke up his sister. She yelled down from her room "Mommy, broters crying! Do you hear him? It's okay broter". She is just so sweet.

Gibson has to go for his bilirubin check today. It was scheduled for 1:45 but they called early and said that they needed him to come at 9:45. Matt luckily was able to come back home from work to take him.

Buddy came by to visit. She brought us lunch and got to the house around 12:00. She was able to put LeLe in her bed for me since I am not suppose to be holding her.

Our precious neighbors brought us dinner for the evening. They also came to visit. LeLe was so excited to see Mrs. Kim and Kayla. She even put on a show for them.

Dr. Huie called and said that Gibson's counts were okay and they just need to come back when he is a week old.

We gave LeLe her Valentines present today but she was more interested in painting brother's seat. When we tried to eat dinner tonight, she insisted that "broter" be in the room. She kept getting up and going to check on him in the other room. So, in an effort to make her eat, we perched him up on the kitchen table in his bouncy seat.

Welcome Home!

The doctors came around about 10:00 and let me know that I was free to go home. The pediatrician also came by and fortunately, Gibson won't have to go home on a bili bed. Instead, they want to check him on Monday.

Matt ended up staying home with LeLe last night due to her having such a hard time. Bobo came over to the house to stay with LeLe while Matt came to pick us up. When we got home, LeLe was SO proud of her baby "Broter". She just wanted to hug and kiss him the whole time.


Luckily, things for LeLe seemed to have calmed down a bit. She definitely doesn't like it when "broter" cries. She immediately starts looking for a pacifier and then brings 15 blankets to cover him.

Aunt Tammie, Uncle Allen, and Lauren came over to visit after we got home. They were so sweet and brought LeLe a new doll that takes a pacifier. So far, it has been a saving grace.

Tonight, we had to take Pappy back to UAB. He seems to be having some confusion and therefore, got to spend the night at the hospital. They say that his white blood counts are elevated so they are planning on keeping him.

Hospital Stay - Day 2

The jaundice test came back and he has an elevated bilirubin of 11.8. So, they are going to put him on the bili bed starting today. Matt brought LeLe first thing in the morning and then Bobo and Pappy came to visit and took her home. LeLe was a nervous wreck...she wouldn't be still and she has had an upset tummy. She loved touching and trying to kiss her brother but she was OBSESSED with all of the pacifiers. So much so, that she wouldn't quit asking for them.

The Skinner family also came to visit. Anne Reaves and Saxon thought that Gibson was too sweet. Anne Reaves even got to hold him!

They rechecked Gibson's levels in the early evening and they have risen. So, they want to put him on double bili lights tonight in the nursery. Since he gets to go under more lights, he got to wear his first pair of glasses.

I have been enjoying the Olympics. I cannot believe that we will be going home tomorrow!

Hospital Stay - Day 1

I sent Gibson back to the nursery overnight. Matt stayed with me in the hospital. The OB came early to do Gibson's circumcision. I was able to get a much needed shower. The pediatrician came by and checked him out and said that he was absolutely perfect. She thought that he was very close to his due date if not a little past due. Due to the contusion on his head, he is more susceptible to jaundice. She wants him to be supplemented with formula to help keep down his levels.

I could tell by the night time that jaundice was beginning to set in. They are going to check him first thing in the morning.

We didn't have many visitors today due to the weather and due to my pain levels. We are very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family! Thank you for all of the thoughts, calls and prayers. If I spoke to you, I probably don't remember it but it is appreciated!

Gibson Adair Holland has arrived!

I won't bore you will all of the details but Gibson Adair Holland arrived at 1:43 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th, 2010. After much labor and an emergency c-section, he is absolutely perfect! We are in love with our little BIG man!! He weighed in at 8 lbs 7 ounces and was 22 inches long!

We officially need to change the name of the blog...but, for now, we will keep it as is....

Time is Ticking....

We found out yesterday that baby boy Holland will be here on Thursday morning, February 11th. Okay, well, we will be headed to the hospital at 5:00 AM on Thursday morning. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we welcome our new little angel into the world!

Bubbles!

LeLe is definitely becoming a big girl. She and BoBo have been practicing gymnastics so now she thinks this is a great trick!

Tonight, I decided to have myself a bubble bath. I was quickly greeted with a little girl who also thought it was a marvelous idea. So, the next thing I know, I am watching her take off all of her clothes and try to climb into the tub. Since I am such a nice person, I went ahead and pulled her into the water with me. We turned on the jets in the tub and the bubbles went crazy! She had a FANTASTIC time playing with all of the bubbles and let me say...i really enjoyed it too!
