Talks from the bedroom

Tonight I was in the office paying bills when I heard...

LeLe pooted.
Matt - "Say excuse me."
LeLe - "Excuse my bottom."

Then a little later, Matt heads to the bathroom and then returns to the bedroom.

LeLe - "Good Job Daddy...I'll go get you 3 skittles...I am very proud of you....you are a good boy."

Matt..."Thank you LeLe".

Do you think that she has heard this before?

As for little G-money, he really likes playing in the floor and reading/eating books!

Babies are Growing...

My babies are growing up. Today, it stormed and stormed and stormed. Matt and I decided to do a little cleaning and ended up taking down LeLe's crib from her big girl room and then took down Gibson's swing. While I thought that I would be sad about taking down LeLe's crib, I was actually kind of excited. We explained to her that we were going to trade the baby bed for a kitchen. So, we brought her kitchen up from the basement along with all of her toy food. She couldn't be happier.

As for Gibson, I am sad to see his swing go. That swing has been such a wonderful asset to our house over the past few months. I can say that I am glad to see the eye sore come out of the den but I would love to keep my baby small and swinging forever.

Gibson is doing a great job sitting. He was a little fussy today from the shots that he received and did run a low grade fever. I gave him some ibuprofen to help with his demeanor. Tonight, Matt grilled steaks and kabobs for dinner. LeLe wanted a "whole" one and well, she pretty much ate the whole thing.

Gibson is still eating baby food. His favorites are pears, applesauce and then all of the vegetables. If you don't feed him fast enough, he lets you know.

6 Month Check-up

Today we woke up bright and early to head to Gibson's 6 month check-up. Mother was planning on going with me so around lunch, I headed to Bobo/Pappy's house to pick up mother. She called around 1:15 saying that she was at Brookwood mall and that she would just meet me there. I told her not to worry with it. So, here we go for our adventure!

The kids were fantastic. Per our instructions, I gave Gibson .8 of Tylenol before the visit. While I was in the waiting room, Matt called and said that he was leaving St. Vincent's. I convinced him to come to the doctor's office with me. Luckily, he showed up before Gibson even had to go back to a room. The first thing that they always make us do is take off the kids clothes down to a diaper. They then take him back to get a weight measurement. He weighed in at 16 pounds and 13 ounces and was 28.25 inches long (90th-95th). His head measured about 17 inches. Doctor Huie came in and said the same thing everyone says..."look at those beautiful blue eyes and look at those long eyelashes". He then proceeded to say that he was a healthy baby boy and to begin feeding him 2-3 times a day. But, he would need to be eating at least 3 meals by the time he is 9 months old.

Matt kept LeLe in the waiting area while we saw Dr. Huie. Gibson received 4 shots while we were there. Dr. Huie said that his ears were clear.

Buddies

Gibson usually is wakes up about the same time that I get up for work in the morning. This morning, he chilled with Sadie while I took a shower. Gibson LOVES Sadie and Sadie usually blocks him where he cannot fall off of the bed.

Gibson really likes grabbing at Sadie's hair. Poor Sadie, she just goes with the flow.

Ballet shoes....still on

LeLe has successfully kept her ballet shoes on for 3 days!

I cannot believe my little man is 6 months old today!! Man, how time flies!

On all Fours

Gibson decided today that he would try to crawl. Okay, well start to push up and rock. I am not sure why he has all of this food on his face other than the fact that he really likes green veggies and maybe he was saving them for later? No really, I promise I wipe off my child's face. Just maybe it was on his hand or something.

He is such a joy. These days he really enjoys his exersaucer and playing the floor. He really likes putting all objects in his mouth and has become an excellent sitter.

Ballerina Suit!

We slept in this morning and around lunch got up and headed to the BDT Dance to sign LeLe up for dance. She was so EXCITED! Registration started at noon but we got there a little early. She was so ready that she didn't even give me any fits. :)

Gibson was just his sweet little laid back self. LeLe checked out every classroom and danced in every mirror. She asked every person that was also registering for dance "Can I Dance?". She is just so pumped.

After signing her up, we went to buy ballet and tap shoes. She was such a funny little girl at the dance shop. She modeled all of the dance and tap shoes to everyone...even the other little girls that were being sized.

At 1:45, we had an appointment with Dr. George Tisdale. He was a dermatologist that Dr. Huie referred us to. We finally got back around 2:30 and he took a good look at both kids. Let's just say, nap time is not a good time to go to the doctor's office. He thinks that it is a fungus that is causing the kids to have a rash and prescribed us a couple of different medicines (one a liquid lotion and a medicated shampoo).

On our way home, we stopped by Babies R Us. LeLe proceeded to ask the lady behind the counter..."Are you brown?". The lady says, do what sweetie? "Are you brown? Brown like my chocolate milk?". Ladies response, "yes sweetie, I am brown like your chocolate milk." I about died. Where does she come up with this stuff?

When we came home, LeLe insisted on trying on her dance outfit....she even walked over to the neighbors to show them her ballerina shoes!! She called Bobo and Pappy and Saxon/Reaves to let them know that she was going to a "Dance recital".

I just hope that she continues to be this excited.

Sunday Blues

We stayed home today. It rained and rained and we just laid low. We actually went to Costco and then headed home for nap time. Lauren came over and watched the kids while I finished up her projects for school. The table skirts turned out precious. Gibson helped me pick out the balls to go on the bottom of the skirts. He chose to eat them though instead of throw them.

He is really getting good at sitting now and LOVES his sister. Every time that you smile at him, he smiles back. He absolutely LOVEs vegetables. He will give up his sweet fruits any night for some green beans and squash. Tonight's menu featured a harvest blend.

Visit to Tuscaloosa

We all went Tuscaloosa to visit Matt, Saxon and Anne Reaves. Laura is in New York for work. We had a fantastic time with the Skinners and enjoyed the pool. Baby Gibson slept the whole time that we were there. He actualy fell asleep on Saxon's bed but when we went to check on him, we found him in the floor. Evidently, he took a ride on top of the pillow that we had barracaiding him on the bed. He wasn't upset, just laying on top of the pillow in the floor. However, I felt like I should get the mom of the year award.

Dance...bust

We tried to sign LeLe up for Dance today. However, they were closed. She was devastated. She cried in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. While we were waiting, some nice man came out of the building next door and tried to help us. Unfortunately, he couldn't and LeLe just was begging him "can I dance, mr. Can I dance?". It was absolutely precious and sad all at the same time.

The only way that I could get her to quit crying was to call her daddy on the phone. While on the phone, he promised her ice cream. So, she decided that we would get ice cream and take some to Pappy and Bobo. So, McDonald's ice cream...she got. Pappy passed on the ice cream and Bobo wasn't home but regardless, LeLe got over her spell.

We then came home and tried to take a nap. As soon as I got them down, Lauren came by and needed my help. She has gotten a job teaching at McAdory Elementary and her room was in shambles. I got both of the kids out of bed and we headed to the school to measure some things for me to make table skirts. We then headed to different fabric stores: Hancock, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby and then back to JoAnn's before we found the perfect fabric. We then went out to Agave grill for dinner. Matt met us there with surprises for LeLe. Both LeLe and Gibson were complete angels considering they hadn't slept.

When we got home, we found a prize that the guy from Matt's work sent LeLe. See post from July 25th. Alex "the Lion" sent her an actual Alex the Lion toy! It was a hit!

Princess LeLe and Gibson a New Tooth!

This morning, I was greeted by Princess LeLe. LeLe has been hearing mother come in during the morning and immediately begins calling her. This morning, LeLe came down wearing...her Cinderella dress.

Gibson has a second tooth! It appeared today and isn't causing any problems. My baby is growing up!!

Gibson's ear seems to be doing much better. He no longer has a fever and is back to his old self.

Happy Birthday Pappy!

Happy 60th Birthday Pappy!! Happy Birthday to the most loving and caring daddy in the world. We love you!

Gibson found his tongue! It had to be the funniest thing that I have seen in a very long time. He kept putting his tongue out on one side and then the other. He would then make this funny noise. He was so excited about his tongue! He kicked his feet 100 miles per hour while moving it side to side.

Fever...Again..

First off, let me start off by saying....I am very fortunate to have such happy and healthy children. I have no idea how parents deal with sick kids all of the time as my heart breaks for my little fellow who couldn't sleep last night and had a terrible fever.

Around midnight, Gibson woke up screaming. After trying to rock him, walk him around the block, drive him in the car around Hoover, I finally got him to calm down. He finally went back to sleep around 3:30. Let's just say, he fell asleep me holding him while sitting up on the couch.

I am sure that you understand that there was no doubt that we would be visiting Dr. Huie this morning.

I called as soon as he woke up around 8:00 and made an appointment for us to see Dr. Huie. The first available that they had was around 2:00. I went ahead and made one for both of the kids considering that LeLe has the same runny nose/fever/congestion along with a rash on her head.

Mother volunteered to go to the doctor with me. I think that she may feel sorry for me. She dressed LeLe (as you can probably tell from the crazy hair bow). At this point, I was just thankful to have her help. She is such a blessing and is so wonderful with the kids.

As soon as Dr. Huie entered the room, LeLe asks if he wants to come to her house and play with her. He said that maybe he could sometime. Dr. Huie took one look at her and said.."it is a virus". He then proceeded to suggest that we see a dermatologist for the rash in her hair.

LeLe has had a cold too so I went ahead and took her as well. I also wanted Dr. Huie to look at the rash that she has in her hair. He wasn't sure what it was so he has referred both of the kids to a dermatologist in Vestavia.

As for little Gibson, he took one look at his right ear and says....well, that is a pretty bad ear infection. I am sure that he could have seen my face drop as I really really have been fortunate with LeLe (not having but 1 ear infection). I then proceed in asking 150 different questions such as "does this mean that he is going to have a bunch of ear infections? is this normal? is he going to be my ear baby? how many ear infections until tubes?". Dr. Huie explained that most children get 3-4 ear infections the first year of life and considering he is almost 6 months old, we are beating the odds. So, I calmed down. Mother stayed with me to drop off the prescriptions and then we headed home.

Gibson had lost down to 16 lbs 12 ounces. He did eat some supper...and wore some too. Tonight, it put him back into his nap nanny to sleep. The elevation really helped him.

Sitting Expert

Gibson is really getting good at sitting. Today, he sat in the floor and played for a very long time. His fever is going down and he is starting to get back to himself. He really really likes this toy that Aunt Laura gave LeLe.
